Nigerians Celebrate Chidimma Adetshina’s Big Win

By Glam & Essence

Miss Universe first runner up,Chidimma Adetshina, has become the most celebrated Nigerian right now,as Nigerians have taken to social media to celebrate the beauty queen for her feat at the just concluded Miss Universe pageant in Mexico.
The 22-year-old Chidimma finished as the first runner-up,after Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, who won the 73rd edition of the pageant on November 16, 2024.
Adetshina’s success is coming 23 years after Nigeria’s ex beauty queen,Agbani Darego made history by winning the Miss World title on November 16, 2001,when she became the first Black African woman to win the title at the age of 18 years.
Chidinma’s success hit different on account of the circumstances that led to her competing at the Miss Universe, representing Nigeria.
Recall that Chidinma, who grew up in South Africa had initially wanted to run for Miss South Africa pageant, but was bullied by the South Africans, who didn’t want her representing them since her father is a Nigerian, forcing her to withdraw from the pageant.
On the invitation from the Silverbird organization,Chidinma entered for the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant and won, leading to her eventual participation at the Miss Universe pageant, which held in Mexico.
She soon became a favorite amongst social media followers of the pageant across the globe and the international press.
Since her winning the second position at the event,Nigerians have taken to their various social media handles celebrating her, while trolling South Africans for losing out, especially as their representative pulled out mid way into the competition.
