Former US Commander-in-Chief and Republican party 2024 presidential nominee was found guilty on all 34 counts by a jury of 12 citizens of Manhattan, New York, on Thursday, May 30,who, unanimously agreed on the verdict.
The jury found that Trump, 77, falsified business records throughout 2017 by lying that he was paying his then-lawyer, Michael Cohen for phony “legal services”, when he was reimbursing him for the hush money that kept Stormy Daniels from speaking out about having had sex with Trump inside a Lake Tahoe hotel room in 2006.
The foreman read the verdict on count one of the indictment, declaring “Guilty”, repeating it 33 more times when asked to read the jury’s verdict on the other counts.
Trump’s reaction was expressionless on his face, as he stared at each juror as they declared him guilty.
The guilty verdict brought to an end the seven-week trial in the Manhattan Supreme Court.
Ex-President Trump while reacting to the judgement during a press briefing was to declare the verdict a disgrace, a weak trial by a conflicted judge the he called corrupt, as he becomes the first ex US President to be convicted on criminal charges.
