Popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, aka Mummy of Lagos,has been convicted by the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos,for abusing the Naira.
Bobrisky was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on four counts of naira abuse preferred against him.
He was convicted by Justice Abimbola Awogboro,after the facts of case was reviewed.
Bobrisky pleaded with the court before his conviction,claiming that he was not aware of the law on abusing the Naira.
He told the judge that he is a social media influencer with over five million followers.
The judge responded saying that ignorance of the law was not an excuse.
Bobrisky replied saying,
“I know, My Lord. My Lord, I wish that you could give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money.
“I would do a video on my page and I will educate people about spraying money.
“I will not repeat it again. I regret my actions,” he said.
He later pleaded guilty to the first four counts bordering on Naira abuse.
With the conviction, Bobrisky could either serve six months in prison, pay a fine of N50,000 or do both.
