The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken the oath of office to officially become the President of Nigeria. The oath of office was administered by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola. The Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima, was also administered the oath of office.
Tinubu, who was declared winner of the 2023 presidential election by INEC, has faced a lot of opposition from the other parties, alleging that his emergence was as a result of rigging enabled by INEC, leading to the aggrieved parties going to court.
Though Tinubu has been sworn in as President, there is a pending court case by Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, challenging the validity of the result that saw Tinubu winning the election.
