Pope Francis Dies On Easter Monday

The Vatican has announced the passing away of the Catholic pontiff, Pope Francis.
Pope Francis, who had recently survived a serious bout of double pneumonia and was seen at this year’s Easter Sunday open air mass died at the age of 88 in his residence, according to a post by the Vatican on the social media platform X.
Cardinal Kevin Farrell made an announcement on the Vatican’s TV channel saying:
“Dear brothers and sisters, it is with profound sadness I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis.
“At 7:35 this morning the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father,”
The pontiff, who was born Jorge Mario Bergoglio, was elected pope on March 13, 2013, becoming the first Latin American leader of the Roman Catholic Church.
Pope Francis faced fierce criticism from conservatives, who accused him of trashing cherished traditions of the Catholic Church, while also sparking anger among the church progressives, who felt he should have done much more to reshape the 2,000-year-old Church.
The news of his passing has stunned many of the catholic faithfuls who were excited when he was seen at the Easter Sunday service a day before his passing on Easter Monday.
