Ooni’s Twin Children Arrive Ile Ife Palace

The twins babies born to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, made a grand arrival at the Ooni’s palace in Ile Ife on Sunday,18th of August,2024.
The twins arrival to the palace is coming five months and 2 days after the monarch announced their birth
A statement by the monarch’s spokesperson, Moses Olafare, said the twins,Prince Adesina and Princess Adesewa Ogunwusi,were received by the Ooni, accompanied by royal family members, traditional rulers, high chiefs, chief priests and other palace stakeholders.
The statement reads that,“In line with the tradition and customs of Ile-Ife, the ancestral home of Oduduwa race globally, the Araba Agbaye (Global Head of Ifa Cult), Araba Aworeni and the Obadio of Ile-Ife, who is the custodian of the Oduduwa shrine, High Chief Obadio Farotimi Faloba used the medium to perform all the necessary royal supplications to welcome the twins to the land of Oduduwa.
“Lowa Adimula of lle-Ife, High Chief Adesiyan, who led the newest prince to the abode of Oduduwa, used all the emblems and symbols of Yoruba race to pray for their father, mother, lle-Ife and the entire Yoruba race.
“The Traditional Prime Minister of Ife and Obalufe of Ife, Oba Idowu Adediwura, called on the ancestors to guide, protect and elongate the life of the newest royal twins of Arole Oodua”.
According to Obalufe, Oba Ogunwusi is the first Ooni to have twins since the creation of the throne of Oduduwa several thousand of years ago.
As part of the required rites,the father of the twins, Oba Ogunwusi took the male child, Prince Adesina to a sacred chamber(lle Igbo), the ancient room,where Oduduwa lived during his days to commune with his ancestors on the arrival of the prince into the Ooni’s lineage as the tradition of lle-Ife demands.
The twins were birthed by one of Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi’s wives, Olori Tobiloba Ogunwusi.
