The Nigeria movie sector has been hit with another death,as it just lost actress, Omotola Odunsi, popularly known as Motola the Actor. a well known face in Yoruba movies.
Her passing was confirmed by one of her colleagues, Akinola Segbowe Akano, when he made an Instagram post on Thursday, July 31, 2025,announcing the sad news.
In the post,he shared their last conversation and photos of the late actress, revealing that she had earlier said she was getting better.
The post reads:
“Motola! Strange but I tried checking on you at the wee hours of that morning. You said you were FINE & BACK! This is a rude shock, Omotola! Journey well, sister. God be with your family”.
While details about the cause of her death is yet to be made public at the time of filing this report,but some of her colleagues in the Yoruba film industry have been reacting to the sad news about her death.
One of those who has is renowned Yoruba actor, Odunlade Adekola.
He posted this brief reaction;
“Jesus Christ. RIP Omotola”.The late actress featured prominently in several Yoruba films such as Ajanaku, Darkness, Ogo Oluwa, Dagogo, Ariran, Doctor Adunni, Folagbade, President Kuti, Amonata, Officer Adaeze, Ifedayo, Ayanmo Ire, and Lisabi: The Uprising.
Before venturing into the world of acting, Omotola had worked as a Credit Officer at a state-owned bank before she resigned in 2019,to pursue acting full-time
