The capital of Niger State, Minna, witnessed a huge crowd of men and women as well as young people in the state who took to the streets on Monday morning to protest the high cost of living in the state.

The demonstrators blocked major roads in the metropolis singing protest songs to express their grievances.
While protesting, the people expressed their sadness over the increase in the prices of food items and the government lukewarm reaction in addressing the situation.

Police officers and other security agents were on ground but did not interfere with the activities of the demonstrators.
The protest of the crowd drew the attention of the Niger State Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba, who came out to address the protesters.
According to him during his address, he claimed that the government was not unaware of the hardship of the people, though he quickly assured them that the government would work on easing the pains of the people in the face of their reasons for this suffering as they have outlined.
