Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Ishola Olawale, has responded to the accusations levelled against him by the former Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.
On his return to Lagos from his foreign trip on Saturday, Obama accused CP Olawale of participating in his impeachment by allegedly dispatching policemen numbering over 200 to invade the Assembly and his residence on the day of his removal.
Obasa claimed that a contingent of policemen stormed his residences, situated in the Agege area of the state and at the GRA, where they blocked the gate and prevented members of his family from exiting the house.
According to him, “My children did not sleep in this house on that day because they were locked out, and my wife kept inside on house arrest.”
Reacting to Obasa’s claims, CP Olawale said that Obasa’s claims can be investigated by speaking with the residents of the estate to confirm if that was the case.
Hear him;
“The man lives within an estate, so that means before you get to his house, you must have breached the gate of that estate.There are gatemen in the estate, why don’t you find out? 200 policemen? How many policemen do I have? Have you asked that question?
Whatever happens the assembly has nothing to do with the police,” he stated.
He claimed that the Lagos Assembly has ways members check themselves in, and so, anybody who has no business inside the assembly is allowed in. “They have their sergeants at hand who coordinate the conduct of the assembly.” he explained further.
CP Olawale stated further that the law categorically prohibits him from supervising or intervening in the affairs of the assembly, thus refuting the ex speaker’s claims.
