Fuji music legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, had a clash with and some ValueJet pilots at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Tuesday night.
The incident led to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA)suspending two pilots working with the domestic carrier, for what it described as a serious breach of aviation safety protocols at the airport.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)came out to speak on the incident, stating that preliminary investigations confirmed that the passenger, who is KWAM1 was scheduled to board the morning flight to Lagos, operated by ValueJet Airlines (Flight VK 201).
It said during boarding that the passenger attempted to carry an unidentified liquid substance on board, despite repeated warnings from Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel and the Flight Captain.
FAAN said the passenger was informed of this regulation, but chose not to comply.
While the boarding continued, an airline security officer was said to have asked the musician to step aside for further clarification, but he allegedly refused and spilled the contents of the flask on the officer, which turned out to be alcohol.
According to FAAN,“The Flight Captain intervened but also faced similar resistance from the musician.
After confirming that boarding was complete, the flight captain instructed that the aircraft door be closed for take off.
At this juncture, the passenger decided to delay the flight take off by moving to the front of the aircraft and refused to leave the area, despite repeated requests that he should move away from the front of the aircraft.
He was later escorted away by AVSEC crime unit for further investigation, after which he was released.’’
