Court Grants Speed Darlington Release in Defamation Case

By Glam & Essence

A Federal High Court has ordered the immediate release of Nigerian singer Speed Darlington, also known as Akpi, from detention.
Darlington was detained over a defamation case made against him by Burna Boy.
The court’s decision came shortly after socialite l, Cubana Chief Priest expressed his willingness to assist in securing Speed Darlington’s release.
It was gathered that Abubakar Marshal, Esq. has been appointed as surety for the singer’s release.
With this ruling, Speed Darlington is expected to regain his freedom while the legal proceedings continue.
Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the development via a post on X (formerly Twitter), on Monday.
He stated: “The Federal High Court has directed the Nigerian Police to comply with the order to release Speed Darlington immediately, pending the hearing of the substantive matter. The court further directs Abubakar Marshal, Esq. to stand as surety to Akpi.”
