As the Edo guber race is drawing close, the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has reportedly revealed plans to have renowned lawyer, Asue Ighodalo, as his successor.
Ighodalo hails from Esanland in Edo Central Senatorial District, and he has been decided on to run the guber race for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming governorship election, come November 12, 2024.
The other political parties like the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP), among others, are also strategising to pick their guber aspirants from the Edo Central senatorial district, in order to give PDP a strong fight for the office of the governor of Edo State.
Governor Obaseki,it’s been reported will be presenting Ighodalo to the party leadership in the state and also at the national level.
This may nail the ambition of his deputy, Shaibu ,who hails from Jettu in Etsako West Local Government Area in Edo North senatorial district, to succeed Obaseki to become governor after his tenure on the PDP platform.
