The former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has been suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, following allegations of his anti-party activities.
In a resolution, submitted to the APC National Secretariat and addressed to National Chairman Dr. Umar Ganduje, the Osun APC accused Aregbesola of creating divisions within the party by forming a splinter faction,an action that’s seen as detrimental to the party’s unity, particularly during a crucial period in Osun politics.
The state party’s leaders fear Aregbesola’s influence over certain groups in the party, which they alleged has led to discord with the party.
Aregbesola’s suspension is a move by the state chapter of the party to disorganize those backing Aregbesola’s actions and so get them to fall in line with the party leadership, especially as the upcoming elections draw close.
