American actor and screenwriter, Derek Dixon has filed a lawsuit against media mogul, Tyler Perry. In his suit, he is accusing Tyler of sexual harassment and offering professional favors in exchange for silence.
In the 46-page suit filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Dixon is seeking $260 million in damages.
He alleged that Tyler made repeated unwanted advances, including groping and explicit texts to him, after casting him in a role on The Oval in 2019.
He alson alleged that Perry lured him to his Georgia home, served him drinks, and later entered his guest room uninvited and groped him.
According to Dixon in his suit,
“Mr. Perry sought the one thing his wealth and influence could not purchase — a sexual relationship with a man who would remain silent.”
Dixon claimed that Tyler became increasingly aggressive when he refused his advances.
He later started treating him like an on-call “pet” and using job offers to control him.
Dixon further claimed in his suit that Tyler allegedly assaulted him multiple times between 2020 and 2021, including during a trip to the Bahamas and another time at his home.
After one alleged incident, Dixon claimed that Tyler’s lawyer reportedly praised Dixon and offered him a raise and the opportunity to develop his original script, one that never happened.
Dixon said that project was never meant to be produced, but was rather a means to keep him quiet.
Tyler’s legal team have since denied all of Dixon’s allegations, calling the lawsuit a “scam” and claiming Dixon sought access to Tyler for opportunistic reasons.
The lawsuit compares Perry to other powerful entertainment figures accused of sexual misconduct and cover-up using manipulation and fear.
Dixon claimed he eventually declined further offers from Perry and chose to file a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
