Following consultation with critical stakeholders in the Aviation Sector, and those involved in the incidents regarding the unruly behaviours of Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM1 and one Comfort Emmanson at some Nigeria airports recently, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has announced that the Federal Government of Nigeria has withdrawn criminal complaints against both of them.
Keyamo announced the decision in a statement on Wednesday August 13.2025,while also noting that the FG also took into consideration the appeals from well-meaning Nigerians to temper justice on both offenders.
Keyamo said Ms. Emmanson, who was involved in an altercation aboard an Ibom Air flight on August 10, had shown “great remorse” during police interrogation in the presence of her lawyer.
He confirmed that the complaint against her had been withdrawn and that the Police would work to secure her release from Kirikiri Prison this week.
He also said that the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) had agreed to lift the lifetime flying ban imposed on her, with details of the resolution to be announced by the group.
In KWAM 1’s case, Keyamo said the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had reduced the artiste’s flight ban to one month as against the six months ban initially placed on him,and would also withdraw its police complaint.
Keyamo added that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)plan to engage KWAM1 as an ambassador for airport security protocol, a move many are kicking against, regarding it as a move by FG to soothe the musician’s crushed ego, following the apology he had to publicly give, especially after leaked audio was released that he allegedly threatened to deal with those who publicly embarrassed him during his recent unruly behavior on the airport tarmac.
Keyamo also announced that the NCAA will restore the licences of ValueJet pilot, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and co-pilot, First Officer Ivan Oloba ,after a one-month suspension and mandatory professional reappraisal.
He has also directed aviation agencies to begin a retreat next week to retrain security personnel on handling disruptive passengers and de-escalating tense situations, while Airlines, have also been directed to hold training sessions that would address the conduct of their staff towards passengers going forward.
